Liebe Lost-in-Deutschland-Leser und Zuschauer: Ihr seid nicht nur nett, lieb und kommetarfreudig, sondern immer zahlreicher.
Follow writers, some famous and some less so, as they too get Lost in Deutschland. From Melville to Auden, from Mary Shelley to John le Carré: Germany has long inspired English-speaking writers, and in this series, I aim to show just how and where.
As of May 2013, a wide-ranging collection of these texts has been available as a book: order Germany: Beyond the Enchanted Foresthere.
All of the extracts from other works reproduced here are either out of copyright or are posted with the consent of copyright holders. Where copyright is unclear or I have been unable after exhaustive research to locate copyright holders, I state this clearly at the bottom of the text concerned and would be very happy to hear from anyone with information about copyright.
